We built our home and retired on Anderson Island 2004. Bill worked in Public service for Clackamas County, Oregon for over thirty years and served in the Army and Army Reserves for over thirty years as well. Catherine worked for a large corporation for several years, and then a large non-profit organization. We love retirement, and never get bored! We planned our home from the beginning as a full bed and breakfast, which we operated for about seven years before eliminating the breakfast and becoming a vacation rental. But we still have time to visit and talk about island life.
We have kayaked for about fifteen years and especially enjoy Puget Sound and the Gulf Islands of Canada. Now we prefer more comfortable forms of travel.
Volunteers make our community great. As our contribution to our island community, we both served as volunteers on the Anderson Island Fire Department for over thirteen years. Bill as a firefighter and a member of the Marine rescue crew. Catherine as an EMT and helped with events and fundraising for the Firefighters Association. Bill also serves on the Anderson Island Parks Board. Catherine enjoys sewing with our local chapter of Quilts of Valor.
We have four adult children, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. All of this keeps us busy but we do fit in a little time for hobbies. If that's not enough, there are always the local events and activities that we share with the wonderful folks on the Island. It's a friendly place - so don't forget to wave!
